The original track was inspired by Kitsune Machine’s Nudge 2 submission. They mentioned “vaporwaving the hell out of” a sample. I thought, what if I vaporwave the vaporwave.

Didn’t quite pan out the way I envisioned. And then, of course, came part 2.

The deletion part of this was easy! My first track was a drone, and my last was a riser. Then I also deleted the synth chord progression (which I didn’t like), and the other flavor bits. And what was left felt… functional.

I was going to leave it at that, but it seemed too easy. Instead, I dove in and did a lot of volume and panning manipulation, especially on the glitch track and what I’ve been calling the “percussion drone” (basically wholesale ripped off Knobs’ technique from his Motion Sequencing video (2:45 mark) but to a more lackluster result). Tried to give everything a sense of structure.

I sat with that for a while, and it still seemed too easy.

So I got rid of the percussion drone, which I was so attached to, and brought back the synth chord progression, which I so didn’t like. The only thing I could do to alter the tone was EQ it, so I EQ’d it to smithereens. A few more volume and panning adjustments, mix the levels again, et voila. Bit rougher around the edges than I would’ve liked but there you are.
