the piece started as a big swelling string ensemble thing.

i use a not-amazing free string vst so layering real instruments and multiple overlapping string voices is typically my approach to hide the imperfections. they don't sound great solo.

so when i had to gut almost all of it i messed around with the eq to try to hide that stuff.
interestingly it turned a very non-subtle cinematic section to something nostalgic and distant, which is neat.

this was a fun exercise in attachment. sometimes i find it hard to edit a piece because i become attached to what how it originally landed.
